To: Mayor of Birmingham
City of Birmingham, help the survior of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing
Mayor William Bell of Birmingham, you should be helping Sarah Collins Rudolph, the one survivor of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. Do something like help her set up and publicize a foundation, make the first contribution. She deserves better treatment than what she has received. On this 50th anniversary of the horrible bombing in your city, you should be helping the living as well as honoring the innocents who died.
Why is this important?
I just heard for the FIRST time that one little girl survived the Birmingham 16th St. Baptist Church bombing of 1963. She was scarred and lost an eye but has never been acknowledged by the city and has never had any help with her medical problems and expenses. The current Mayor or Birmingham, in an NPR interview, begged off doing anything because of legal terminology. This is outrageous...period.
