Clean Up South Carolina’s “Beautiful Places”
“Smiling faces, beautiful places!” This is South Carolina’s marketing line. But the LITTER problem is out of control!!! The primary source of litter is open vehicles transporting loose bags and loads of waste to drop off locations.
The problem is everywhere in our state. Who hasn’t seen trees with permanent “decoration” of plastic bags on them? And who hasn’t seen trash literally “bump” out of the back of a truck driving down the road?
This problem is completely reversible. Let’s make our state pass legislation to create responsible disposal if our waste by easy reinforcement at waste receiving locations. Trash and waste items must be secured in open trucks and vehicles. The attendant at the waste center can hand out warnings and a law enforcement officers can make random visits with fines handed out to those in violation.
Aren’t the beautiful places of our state worth keeping litter free? Isn’t your street or front yard worth keeping litter free? Please sign the petition.

Why is this important?
The current situation of litter on South Carolina’s streets and highways is not only unsightly, it’s unhealthy. It degrades our wonderful state to live the “backwards” stereotype of the Deep South.
