To: DPS Board
Club Blvd School Zone for Duke Park
Dear Duke Park Neighbors,
Let's work together to help our neighborhood children and Durham Public Schools!
Currently, Durham Public Schools (DPS) is accepting suggestions for improving the Magnet School program. We want DPS to guarantee automatic enrollment for children in the Duke Park Neighborhood into Club Blvd. Humanities Magnet
Elementary School.
Many parents in Duke Park are not satisfied with the current “neighborhood” school assignments. The current school options for the majority of Duke Park families are very far from our neighborhood. Additionally, the Duke Park neighborhood is divided by Roxboro Rd. into two school districts, which prevents unified neighborhood support for our assigned schools. Historically, Club Blvd. was our neighborhood school before
redistricting occurred in 1994.
Making Duke Park eligible for automatic enrollment at Club Blvd. would:
- Improve the elementary school options for Duke Park families
- Provide a walkable/carpool-friendly option for Duke Park families
- Allow us to dedicate our significant neighborhood energy to an existing, conveniently located DPS school
- Preserve the diversity of Club Blvd. students, a trait we highly value in our neighborhood

Please also attend the April 26th DPS Board Meeting, Rm. 307, Fuller Building (511Cleveland St., Durham, NC 27702), 6:30-8:30 p.m. Please call Jessica Blaustein at 919-564-9192 if you would like to carpool to the DPS board meeting. A strong showing at this meeting will indicate our seriousness about making positive change in our neighborhood!
