This petition calls upon Rep. Jim Himes to not only co-sponsor the bipartisan Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014, but to work to strengthen it and to ensure that it is brought up for a vote in the House of Representatives.
Why is this important?
With last year's gutting of the Voting Rights Act, Congress must act now before voter suppression and intimidation becomes commonplace. This bill isn't perfect, but it's a good start.
