Colorado Health Reform Does Not Help The Underinsured

Our mother's colon cancer was not diagnosed until it was in Stage IV. She did not have the colonoscopies that many Americans dread but detects this cancer early. She only lived 3 years after her diagnosis. I dread finding out that my sisters or brothers might get the same prognosis simply because they don't have the money to pay their health insurance deductible. For example, many of us have to pay $3000 towards medical care before our insurance kicks in. The lobbyist positioning by the health insurance companies as a backlash from the Obama healthcare bill must end and Colorado is the perfect place to stop it. Please sign this petition for all those residents, young and old, who are in this situation.

Why is this important?

My working family members need preventative health care. Insurance companies have set the deductibles so high that we cannot afford preventative care or life saving surgery. We do not qualify for the free clinic services because we are UNDERinsured and not UNinsured. None of my working family members are old enough for Medicare. We need to put a cap on the dollar amount that health insurance companies can ask for annual deductibles when it comes to preventative care and life saving surgery.
