Colorado: SB 3: End the Misuse of Credit Reports as barriers to hiring
Why is this important?
This petition is to end the misuse of credit reports as barriers to getting people back to work. You may recall 60% of employers are now using credit reports in hiring even though there is no evidence that they predict the quality of an employee and hundreds of thousands of Coloradans have had their credit impacted, due to no fault of their own, by the recent recession. Furthermore, there are major errors in the credit reports of over 20 million Americans. It's time to remove this unnecessary barrier to getting people back to work.
The bill passed the Colorado Senate on a vote of 20 - 15 but the bill faces significant challenges in the House. It is scheduled for hearing in the Colorado House Monday March 19, 2012 at 1:30 PM. It is the 2nd bill up. Please testify in support of SB 3 to help us end this practice that creates a vicious cycle of unemployment.
