Commissioners, Say NO to the Impact Fee and Act 13 and YES to a Safe and Healthy Berks County

Please reconsider your position on the Impact Fee for unconventional natural gas drilling. The Impact Fee is part of Act 13, a law that strips local municipalities of any control over all drilling operations, including many that happen hundreds of miles from the nearest well pad. The Impact Fee does not pertain to those operations. It only pertains to impacts that come as a result of drilling itself should it ever come to the Berks County and, even then, the fee does little to remediate the environment, treat people sickened by contamination, and repair the infrastructure. No amount of money can take care of all of that. Saying NO to the Impact Fee and Act 13 is saying YES to a safe and healthy Berks County.

Why is this important?

Tell the County Commissioners to reconsider their position on the Impact Fee for drilling of the Utica shale in Berks County and take action instead to protect our people and natural resources.
