Now that the residents of Washington State have voted to legalize possession of 1 oz or less of marijuana, we need to commute the sentences of those who are in prison for simple possession, release them from incarceration, and give them their lives back. We don't believe their lives should be ruined because of this. We believe they should have the opportunity to return to the community and lead productive lives. It's the right thing to do, but also, this will reduce the prison population and reduce drain on the budget..
