Congress is to enter into serious bipartisan debate over the issues of raised in the Steven Brill's Time Magazine 'Bitter Pill' mega-article (Mar 4, 2013) regarding grossly excessive charges levied by non-profit and for-profit hospitals, insurance companies, drug companies, medical supply companies, clinics, emergency rooms, and of course doctors. Set a goal of reducing medical costs from 20% of GNP to 12% and thereby economize our way to prosperity.
Why is this important?
Obamacare addresses who is going to pay for medical care. Steve Brill's 27,000 word March 4, 2013 special report opens the lid to overcharging "non-profit" hospitals, price-gouging drug and medical supply companies, insurance companies built on secret 'chargemasters' which uncomprehendingly determines outrageous/grossly-inflated health care costs driving even upper middle class families into bankruptcy. Doctor pay is narrowly mentioned but equally at fault.
