To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate
Congress: Again, don't double my rate!
Last year students rose up and successfully blocked the increase of student loan rates from going going from 3.4% to 6.8%. This year they are at it again. In July student loan rates are set to double from 3.4% to 6.8%.
First cuts to our nation’s elderly via Social Security and now this?
We need to let our legislators know that they’re priorities are out of whack. Already the government makes so much money off of student debt. A February report from the Congressional Budget Office, said the federal government makes 36 cents in profit on every student-loan dollar it puts out, and estimates that over all, student loans will bring in $34 billion next year.
Education should be accessible to all, and the government should NOT be profiting off of student loans. With student debt reaching over 1 trillion dollars, we need policies that promote access to education , not further punish students simply seeking an ever more costly degree.
Sign this petition to send that message that doubling the student loan interest rate is NOT the solution to this country’s economic problems.

Why is this important?
Once again the folks on Capitol Hill are proposing an increase in student loan interest rates from 3.4% to 6.8%.
