I was shocked, disgusted and finally outraged to find out that cats and kittens have been subjected to horrifyingly cruel research procedures ending in their deaths by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for nearly fifty years funded by American taxpayer dollars.
A White Coat Waste Project investigation has exposed that a USDA laboratory in Maryland breeds up to 100 kittens a year, feeds the two-month-old kittens parasite-infected raw meat, collects their feces for three weeks, and then kills and incinerates the kittens even though they're healthy and adoptable! Obviously this has all been done behind closed doors and with no oversight or it would never have passed muster with the American public for all these years.
Rep. Mike Bishop (R-Mich.) and House Agriculture Committee member Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) have introduced the bipartisan Kittens in Traumatic Testing Ends Now (KITTEN) Act to permanently end these cruel, inhumane and outdated procedures. There are modern procedures and technological advances that can fulfill the requirements of the USDA programs that have depended on this barbaric practice. Alternatives to animal testing include cell cultures, human tissues, computer models and consenting volunteer studies.
The people you have sent to represent you must be told to end what is hell on earth for these innocent kittens! Tell Congress to pass the bipartisan (KITTEN) Act (HR 5780) which will cut funding for the USDA's lethal, taxpayer-funded kitten experiments!

Why is this important?
When I was born over sixty years ago, I came into a home with a kitty in it. I have been a cat lover ever since. Kitties deserve to be adored, not horribly abused in secret procedures which end in their deaths. https://www.whitecoatwaste.org/kittens/ There are modern techniques that can be substituted to end this atrocity.
