To: U.S. Congress

Congress must pass a war powers resolution

While the Trump administration threatens another war that a majority of Americans reject, I urge you to use every ounce of your influence and constitutional authority to prevent all-out war with Iran, including by passing a war powers resolution immediately.

Why is this important?

In his State of the Union address, Trump threatened Iran and refused to rule out launching strikes in a dangerous push toward a new endless war.

Congress must block this reckless march immediately.

The stakes are perilous: Even limited strikes could ignite violence that could quickly cross multiple borders, with no clear end. Any U.S. military operation will have untold and deadly consequences for people in Iran, U.S. servicemembers, and millions across the region. That’s why we’re racing to stop any action before it starts.

Reps. Khanna and Massie’s bipartisan war powers resolution (WPR) to prohibit the use of force against Iran is expected to get a vote in the House as soon as next week. Sens. Kaine and Paul’s parallel Senate legislation is likely to come up soon as well.

With these critical votes happening soon, lawmakers need to hear from constituents like you immediately. It’s pressure from groups like ours and people like you that can get a WPR the support it needs to send Trump an undeniable message: No War.
