Current laws on drug-related criminal infractions were created during the Reagan administration in the 1980s when the country was raging a war on drugs. These laws on incarceration do not treat cases individually, rather giving minimum sentencing, disproportionally affecting minorities.
Why is this important?
We need to raise our voices about the mistakes the Reagan administration created, and correct them by contacting our congresspeople. The maltreatment of non-violent criminals needs to end, and they needed to be served time on an individual basis.
