Congress: Stop Criminalizing the Internet

Prevent others from suffering the injustice of outdated laws that criminalize the Internet. Pass Aaron's Law now.

Why is this important?

My partner, Aaron Swartz, faced 35 years behind bars for allegedly using an alias to download too many academic articles.

Last week, after nearly two years of prosecutorial harassment, Aaron made the tragic decision to end his life. He was 26.

The law treated Aaron like a terrorist, but everyone else knew a different Aaron, the real Aaron; he was an innovator, entrepreneur and social justice advocate who co-authored RSS 1.0 at age 14, co-founded Reddit and led the fight to stop SOPA and PIPA -- the bills that attempted to privatized the internet.

Legislators are introducing "Aaron's Law" to decriminalize the Internet and prevent this tragedy from ever happening again. We must make sure Aaron's Law passes.
