If Congress fails to negotiate an acceptable budget, leaving our economic rating and national programs at default risk, then any automated fail safe, such as the sequester) should include their salaries as well until they create the remedy and take responsibility for tough choices. They should know that if they fail to find a way to work together for the good of the nation as a whole then they too should face the affects.
Why is this important?
Congress has been failing to work with results in mind, and each party is blaming the other, focusing on mud slinging and party positioning instead of leadership for the good of all. When Congress fails to do their job and defaults to something like a sequester why should others pay the consequence while they remain immune to that which they themselves caused?
