Please pass legislation regarding a pay freeze for all elected representatives and reduce the pay by a small percentage as a good faith gesture toward the American voters in order to prove we are all in this together. I think our elected representatives are willing to sacrifice with us and will pass such a measure helping reduce the budget or the deficit.
Why is this important?
Both political parties call for austerity and cuts to many public programs and cuts across the board affecting the voters. Why don't our highly paid elected representatives offer any cuts of their own to benefit our financial plight? If they were truly serious they should agree to a pay reduction and pay freezes until the economy improves or the budget is balanced.
