To: The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate

Congressional Reform Act of 2013

1. No Tenure / No Pension. If our military has to work 20 years for a full retirement, congress should be held to the same requirement.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do. The retirement plan being supplemental to Social Security.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%. Congress need not put the fox in charge of the hen house.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. Any member of congress found guilty of bribery and accepting favors in return for favorable legislation shall face imprisonment of not less than 2 years for every violation and all sentences to be served serially.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 10/01/14. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Why is this important?

We the people no longer find the current legislative practices fair to the public. We have a situation where the FOX has been left in charge of the Hen House scenario.

1. Congress should work for a retirement just like any other federal employee.

2. Congress should have medical benefits while in office which are the same as that received by any other federal employee.

3. Our soldiers serve 20 years in order to receive a full pension, so should any members of congress.

4. Retired members of congress must use the benefit of Social Security and Medicare, the same as any other citizen. They may purchase supplemental and prescription insurance the same as any other citizen.

5. Bills brought before congress are subject to veto by the president on a line by line expense basis. We need to eliminate bills which members can not support because it contains amendments that append other legislation to a bill.

We need to have a congress that serves the needs of the PEOPLE and not the whims of their political party.

The current retirement and benefit system afforded a President and Vice President shall remain as currently implemented. Both offices are demanding and deserves all the perks afforded present and past occupants of both offices. No one person may collect remuneration for more than one office however.
