Elected federal officials including the president shall be paid no more than the U.S. median household income as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau in its latest data. Upon election all financial assets of the elected officials will place their financial assets into blind trusts managed by an independent federal agency and in no event shall they or anyone else have access to the assets in the trust or information concerning the value of the trust. The assets of the trust shall be returned to elected official on termination of their time in office at the value on the day of the termination.
Why is this important?
Elected officials should be paid at the median household income of US families so they are not insulated from the impacts of their decisions.
