Cool our Schools
Children cannot learn and teachers cannot teach in sweltering classrooms. Governor Ige, call a special session of the Legislature, order the air conditioning at the Capitol turned off, and do not dismiss them or turn the A/C back on until they have passed a plan for adequate cooling for all public classrooms and the funding to install and maintain those systems.
Why is this important?
Despite this issue being around for years, the State Department of Education has no realistic plan for heat abatement in all schools, and the Legislature only funded $3 million dollars to address the problem in this year's budget.
