Cops Wear Cameras

I firmly believe that with the technological advancements that we have today there is no reason whatsoever that every law enforcement official, from detectives down to beat cops, should be required to wear some type of digital recording device to monitor their activities while on duty with voice and video. Those cameras should be connected to the internet and there should be a webpage where citizens can go to monitor these law enforcement officials. There should be a way to report abuse or misconduct by these officers to a third party made up of volunteer citizens who have no affiliation with law enforcement. It has been proven time and again that we cannot rely on internal investigations of abuse or misconduct by these officers and be guaranteed that justice will be served when they themselves break the law (i.e. Kenneth Chamberlain, Lt. John Pike, Danziger Bridge shooting among countless others) and feel like they are above it. Its time for the abuse of power and the blatant law breaking by law enforcement to stop and i feel the best way to do that is to make officers wear cameras while they are on duty that they do not have any control over so they know that someone could always be watching.

Why is this important?

Law enforcement officials should be required to wear audio and video recording devices while on duty. Those cameras should stream to the internet for the public to see.
