I fully support County Council Member Anita Prizio’s proposed ordinance 10781-18 to allow the public to be fully informed about where land is leased for drilling and fracking. Allegheny County communities deserve to know if new fracking wells are planned nearby. The county should support its communities by passing this ordinance.
Why is this important?
Allegheny County is denying us public access to information about where the fracking industry has leased land.
County Council Member Anita Prizio has introduced legislation to change this by creating an Allegheny County Lease registry. It would allow residents, local governments and public safety personnel to know where fracking leases are in the county. Making this information available to the public would give us the time we need to organize to prevent fracking wells.
