Creating Civility
Whereas:
1. There is a constant complaint that the public discourse has become negative and vitriolic. And
2. The majority of the public expects moderate and reasonable communication without extreme negativity. And
3. Little is done to modify this condition because it's always left to others to change things.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that I as a citizen will accept my responsibility for change and promise in my communication and interactions to maintain a fair and moderate dialogue in all important issues.
This pledge to be enforced immediately and is applicable to all significant matters of public interest.

Why is this important?
Everyone agrees that the discourse in the public square has gotten very acrimonious. Rather than waiting for our leaders to improve the atmosphere we as citizens should take personal responsibility to affect the change by pledging to communicate with others in a moderate and non threatening manner and avoid name calling histrionics. Operating like Pass It On each of us can be a voice for moderation !
