Credit Checks for Employment
Stop the company TSYS out of Columbus Georgia and others from discriminating hiring practices by doing credit checks for employment and interviews. A persons credit report has no bearing on them as a honest, hard working employee. The country is in bad times and many now have credit dings that were and are beyond their control. Corporations have credit dings, yet they are bailed out. Citizens have credit dings and they can't even get a face to face interview. Stop TSYS out of Columbus Georgia and all others from this illegal practice. It is wrong on many levels.
Why is this important?
Recently, I was called for a job I interviewed for over the phone. The hiring manager told me that I was just what he wanted and that I would be getting a call soon to fly to Georgia for a face to face interview.
What I got was a call from an HR guy asking me to fill out a the forms for a credit check. I was asking why a credit check for an IT job and why before an offer. I did this and the HR guy called back a day or so later and asked me about some stuff on my report. Then he said if I paid these items, they would fly me in for an interview. I was blown away. All these major companies are going bankrupt and are getting bailed out by the government. The average person is struggling in this country with the bad economy and we are now getting turned away from jobs? This company is huge that did this to me. They are TSYS out of Columbus GA.
