The fiscal cliff is looming. Military brass enjoy outlandish benefits at taxpayer expense, including free use of enlisted personal for personal services, access to free professional musical performers and ensembles for entertaining, the network of lavish officer clubs, free travel, etc. These benefits should be cut or charged and taxed to the officers who personally benefit. This petition is to encourage the negotiators to address such officer benefits.
Why is this important?
Top military brass enjoy outlandish free services, entertainment, travel and other perks. No Secretary of Defense has proven powerful enough to cut them, including the officers' clubs. Unlike social and entitlement cuts, there is little recessionary impact from eliminating them.
