CVS spent $32.5MM to kill DEA's anti-opioid tool
CVS was by far the largest lobbying spender in the $102MM effort to pass the Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act, which eliminates the DEA's most effective tool to control opioids. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2017/investigations/dea-drug-industry-congress/?utm_term=.de0f4ac5e41d). They have since developed a PR strategy to deflect from their actions (http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/16/politics/dea-drug-lobby-opioids/index.html). STOP SHOPPING AT CVS!
Why is this important?
I am appalled that a company would spend lavishly in their self-interest to defeat the government's most effective tool to combat the opioid crisis. I hold them partially responsible for the misery and crisis of the opioid epidemic because they put profit ahead of country.
