Dangerous side view car mirrors

Ask the National Transportation Safety Board to review the unsafe use of the "objects are closer than they appear" passenger side mirrors on automobiles.

Why is this important?

The passenger side mirrors on cars that say "objects are closer than they appear", seem to be causing many near misses, if not actual accidents, by drivers who rely upon them to pull in after passing, rather than using their rear view mirror. In the past two weeks I have been run off the road once and nearly off two other times by people who rely upon this false sense of distance. Friends have all reported similar experiences.

At the very least it would seem that the NTSB should look at the safety factor of the use of these mirrors on the passenger side.. What was the purported benefit to them in the first place?
