De-fund Ft. Sumter - Birthplace of Slavery

The status of Ft. Sumter in Charleston, SC is currently a national park. Based on the fact that Ft. Sumter was the location of the start of the Civil War, it is a beacon for slavery and anti-black sentiments. Its status as a federally funded site should cease immediately. We urge congress to require the state to redevelop the facility into a non-offending structure.

Why is this important?

It is the right thing to do. We have got to teach practicing bigots that this type of attitude will not be tolerated.
