Debra Harrington: Correct all the Errors Associated with the Bi-Weekly Pay Conversion
Since the implementation of Cal-Time/Bi-Weekly pay, there has been confusion and mistake on our pay checks. The calculations used to determine our hourly rate, accruals and other form of benefit pay has either been mistaken or too confusing. We as Union members have filed several grievances to ensure we get answers and to be correctly compensated. For that reason we, as the members of Teamsters 2010, demand the following:
• A hearing on all our grievances relating to Bi-Weekly Pay conversion
• Proper calculations to determine our hourly rate based on past practice
• Correct leave and service credit accruals reflected on our paychecks from before the bi-weekly conversion
• Correct payment for OT, Holiday Pay and Shift Differential
• Back Pay for any member who has been determined to be underpaid or mistakenly paid since the conversion
Why is this important?
UC Berkeley recently converted from a monthly pay-cycle to a biweekly pay cycle creating errors in everything from take home pay to benefit accruals. These errors hurt the hardest working and lowest paid employees at UC Berkeley.
