Delaware Township Committee: Commit $15,000 to hire experts to defeat PennEast Pipeline
We call on the Delaware Township Committee to dedicate $15,000 in the upcoming budget meeting on February 23, 2015, to hire expert witnesses with the credibility to document vital resources that will be irreparably damaged should the PennEast Pipeline be constructed. Timing is critical as FERC has not granted an extension to its process despite numerous requests, and this funding would provide a key turning point in our effort to defeat the PennEast Pipeline. The success of all the countless hours of work donated by talented volunteers and professionals helping to save the township thousands of dollars, is dependent on expert witnesses presenting strong, verifiable facts in our report to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) supporting a decision not to approve this pipeline. We strongly believe such action by the committee will not only be a sound decision for our township, but also for the long-term health and wellbeing of our citizens, land and residences.
Why is this important?
On January 29, 2015, during the Delaware Township budget meeting, representatives from Delaware Township Citizens Against the Pipeline (DTCAP) requested the township committee to commit $15,000 to hire expert witnesses to present strong, verifiable facts collected by talented volunteers and professionals. To date, the Township Committee has failed to dedicate the requested funding.
