Demand a Town Hall From Representative Bill Huizenga

We, the undersigned, are the constituents of Representative Bill Huizenga, and we are deeply concerned by his consistent avoidance of in-person communication with the people he represents. It has been nearly eight years since Representative Huizenga last held a town hall meeting, and it is time for him to be held accountable for this lack of engagement.

In the context of the current political climate, where democracy is under threat and authoritarianism is on the rise, it is more important than ever that we have direct, open, and honest communication with our elected officials. Rather than standing up to the dangers posed by an increasingly autocratic administration, Representative Huizenga continues to show blind loyalty to a president who disregards democratic values and the rights of the American people. His failure to engage with his district is a failure to protect democracy and to listen to the very people who put him in office.

During Congressional recesses, it is expected that members of Congress will spend time in their districts, meeting directly with the people they serve. The upcoming March recess provides a critical opportunity for Representative Huizenga to demonstrate his commitment to transparency, accountability, and public service by holding a town hall meeting to listen to the concerns of his constituents.

As taxpayers and voters, we demand that Representative Huizenga schedule an in-person town hall during this upcoming recess (March 15-23). We believe that our voices matter and that direct communication between elected officials and their constituents is an essential part of democracy.

If Representative Huizenga continues to avoid direct interaction with his district, we will not remain silent. We will continue to press for transparency and accountability through public action and protest until our voices are heard.

We call on Representative Huizenga to:

  • Hold a town hall meeting during the March recess.
  • Ensure transparency by allowing for open, public conversations with his constituents.
We, the undersigned, demand action and transparency from our elected officials.

Constituents of Michigan's 4th District

Why is this important?

This petition is critical because Representative Huizenga has shown a lack of accountability and disregard for the needs and concerns of his constituents. Rather than representing the people of Michigan's Fourth District, he continues to align himself with an authoritarian president, without considering how this loyalty harms our communities and the nation at large.

For nearly eight years, Representative Huizenga has avoided in-person communication with his district, leaving us in the dark about his positions and decisions. He is hiding from his constituents because he is afraid to face the consequences of his actions — and the result is a failure to meet his basic responsibility as our elected representative.

Congressional recesses are meant to be an opportunity for representatives to engage with their communities. It is a time for them to listen to the concerns of the people they serve, yet Representative Huizenga continues to avoid these vital conversations, choosing instead to remain loyal to a dangerous political agenda rather than engaging with the people who put him in office.

We, the people of Michigan's Fourth District, demand to be heard. We deserve transparency, accountability, and a representative who listens to us — not someone who hides behind closed doors or puts his party loyalty above the needs of his community.

This petition is not just about the refusal of a town hall; it's about the responsibility of an elected official to be transparent, accessible, and accountable. We will no longer allow our concerns to be ignored, and we will not allow our representative to turn a blind eye to the harm caused by his actions.
