To: Robert "Bobby" Carpenter, Greenup County Judge Executive
Demand Change for the animals at the Greenup County Animal Shelter in Greenup, KY
While Judge Robert "Bobby" Carpenter stands idly by, animals are suffering and dying in deplorable conditions. Preventable shelter-borne diseases, filth, flea and tick infestations and contaminate water are common. Please sign this petition to County Judge Executive Robert "Bobby" Carpenter asking him to step in and end the suffering of all innocent animals at the county-run shelter in Greenup, KY by allowing local volunteers to bathe, provide dewormer and vaccinations to animals, by allowing local volunteers to seek medical treatment for dogs that present with illness or injury, by requiring shelter staff to become adequately trained on acceptable shelter standards, by requiring shelter staff to utilize the stainless steel wall units that the shelter already possesses instead of continuing to allow puppies to be kept on unsealed concrete floors, by allowing and supporting a vaccination program similar to the ones that the majority of surrounding county shelters already have and are successful with, by allowing and encouraging community adoption focused events at the shelter and in the community, by acknowledging and addressing the ongoing parvovirus outbreak at the shelter, and by encouraging staff to implement standard protocol that stops the spread of shelter-borne disease. As a pet owner, you have a real chance to make a difference in the lives of thousands of animals. I urge you to act quickly.
Why is this important?
Despite passage of the “Humane Shelter Law," (KRS Chap.258) the Greenup County Animal Shelter in Greenup, KY continues to treat the animals in their care with reckless disregard for the suffering that they are causing. It is imperative that the basic standards of care required by the Law be provided to these animals.
