Demand Real-Time Fact Checking in Debates and Interviews
It is a disgraceful insult to our intelligence that politicians are allowed to continue spinning webs of gross exaggerations and lies in debates, town halls and interviews. We have the technology. We watch football games where multiple facts are reported on yardage while a pass is still in the air. The American people deserve truth. If we're to make educated choices in our national elections we deserve real-time fact checking. Please sign the petition.
Why is this important?
With every debate I have to go to www.factcheck.org the following day to confirm quotes referencing percentages, costs, and accusations. Every day following debates and interviews there are articles, editorials and media coverage reporting falsehoods and exaggerations, often painting very inappropriate pictures of candidates and their stances. This is a gross injustice. The American people CAN have real-time fact checking and we deserve to know the truth. Too many people will not fact check after debates, and their opinions will be drawn based on lies and exaggerations. We must be better than this.
