Demand that airlines re-regulate change fees and policies
Airlines should allow at least two weeks after purchase/one week before departure to make any changes to an existing ticket without a change fee, and extend the rebooking to three years in which a previously bought ticket can be re-used. The customer should also have the right to hold the value of the ticket without having to decide on a new departure date and time at the time of cancellation. The value should be entirely
applicable to the new ticket, with no limitations as to route and departure date, until three weeks before the three year expiration. It is unreasonable to expect people to cancel and have to decide immediately when they will use or rebook the new ticket or else take a loss an hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Why is this important?
Since the deregulation, airlines have gotten away with charging customers random and inordinate change fees on existing tickets and imposing rules on the changes that leave most customers no choice but to either take a huge loss on a full fare economy ticket and/or rebook the ticket altogether.
