Florida Legislature: Florida's "stand your ground" law is dangerous and prone to abuse. Please repeal this law immediately.
Why is this important?
A Florida jury has found George Zimmerman not guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin—a 17-year-old African-American whose only crime was walking through a white neighborhood wearing a hoodie. The jury did not even find him guilty of manslaughter.
While it did not play a role in this case, we will see more such injustices in the future as long as Florida has a "stand your ground" law on the books. Sign our petition to the Florida Legislature, demanding they repeal their “stand your ground” law immediately.
