Demand the removal of Kenneth Ramirez from Catholic Charities Bargaining
We, the undersigned members of SEIU 1021, call for the immediate removal of Kenneth Ramirez from Catholic Charities SF’s union bargaining team.
Mr. Ramirez was hired on April 28, 2025, as the Director of People and Culture. His arrival coincided with the start of critical union contract negotiations. Despite the significance of this role, employees have raised serious concerns regarding Mr. Ramirez's background, actions, and apparent intent to undermine union solidarity.
Our Concerns:
- Lack of Verifiable Credentials
The biography circulated to employees cites impressive academic and professional achievements. However, members have been unable to verify these credentials through professional platforms (e.g., LinkedIn), Google Scholar, or prior employment with Sodexo. This lack of transparency is deeply concerning. - Hostility Toward Union Efforts
Since his hiring, Mr. Ramirez has demonstrated behavior consistent with union-busting tactics, including:- Rejecting reasonable proposals related to performance evaluation fairness, bilingual pay, and employee stipends.
- Undermining trust through poor communication and dismissive attitudes toward union priorities.
- Rejecting reasonable proposals related to performance evaluation fairness, bilingual pay, and employee stipends.
- Misalignment with Organizational Values
Catholic Charities SF has long claimed to uphold values of compassion, equity, and respect for labor rights. Allowing a newly hired, unvetted administrator to act as the voice of management in labor negotiations directly contradicts these principles.
Our Demands:
We demand the immediate removal of Kenneth Ramirez from all union bargaining activities, and a reassignment of a management representative who:
- Has a proven, verifiable track record;
- Respects union labor;
- Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate in good faith.
This is not a personal attack—it is a stand for fairness, transparency, and the dignity of every employee at Catholic Charities SF.
Why is this important?
Our workplace deserves leadership that values transparency, accountability, and the well-being of its employees. Kenneth Ramirez’s sudden appointment, lack of verifiable credentials, and anti-union behavior threaten the integrity of our contract negotiations and the trust between workers and management.
By allowing someone who has shown no commitment to union values to represent management, Catholic Charities is undermining the voices of frontline workers who know this organization best. This campaign is about protecting our rights, ensuring fair bargaining, and demanding leadership that respects labor and builds trust—not erodes it.
Removing Kenneth Ramirez from the bargaining team is a necessary step toward restoring confidence and achieving a just contract for all.
