Demand Transparency: Investigate Judge Beverly Cannone’s Bias in the Karen Read Case

We, the undersigned, urgently call for an independent investigation into Judge Beverly Cannone’s conduct in the ongoing Karen Read case in Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
Karen Read is on trial for the tragic death of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, but growing concerns from legal experts, investigative journalists, and the public suggest this may not be a fair and impartial trial. Central to these concerns is Judge Beverly Cannone’s pattern of rulings, which appear to consistently benefit the prosecution while hampering the defense.
Some of the most alarming issues include:
  • Denial of key defense motions without full legal explanation
  • Limiting evidence and witnesses that may point to alternate theories or suspects
  • Apparent conflicts of interest that have not been properly addressed
  • A pattern of courtroom decisions that suggest clear judicial bias
Despite widespread public interest in the case, major media outlets have largely failed to report on these concerns, leaving the public in the dark and the justice system unchecked.
This is not just about one case. It's about the integrity of our courts. Every defendant, regardless of the case, deserves a fair trial before an impartial judge. When that appears compromised, the public has both the right and the obligation to demand answers.
We demand:
  1. A formal and transparent ethics review of Judge Beverly Cannone’s role in the Karen Read trial
  2. Immediate national media coverage into the judicial handling of the case
  3. Oversight from independent legal authorities to ensure due process is upheld

Why is this important?

Justice cannot be served behind closed doors, nor can it be trusted when bias is left unchecked.
Please sign and share this petition to hold our judiciary accountable and ensure the Karen Read case is tried fairly — as our Constitution demands.
