Deny the parole of Russell Stone (H00697)

She was murdered when I was 6. Keep her killer behind bars.
When I was six years old, my aunt, Dr. Deborah Saiki, was brutally murdered by her husband, Russell Stone (H00697).

As someone who wholeheartedly believes in the possibility of rehabilitation and change, I have yet to see any evidence of Stone's ability to take full ownership of his actions nor show remorse for what he has done.

As we all know, change starts at acknowledging our mistakes and owning our responsibility in them. True change without this step is hollow and superficial - a mere guise to persuade critics and escape being held accountable.

The fact Stone, after murdering my aunt, could go and work a full eight-hour shift like nothing had happened shows how dangerous he is. This complete lack of empathy is terrifying, and I wouldn't feel safe with him on the streets until he is physically incapable of holding a weapon.

I'm convinced any regret he has is purely regret that he was caught and held accountable for his heinous crimes.

I ask that you deny his parole yet again, and keep this dangerous man off our streets.

Why is this important?

After Russell's last parole hearing, I was adamant that before his next hearing I'd research more of the case - after all, I was a kid when the murder happened, and I know how memories can be unreliable, and I wanted to be completely sure that Russell didn't deserve a chance to live life outside jail.

I'm a huge critic of how the criminal justice system works, and I advocate for prisoner rights and rehabilitation, and so I needed to be sure that I was giving everyone a fair shake.

But after seeing more court documents, the more I became convinced that I needed to keep this murderer in prison.

After all, he both stabbed my aunt with a kitchen knife multiple times as well as bludgeoned her with a wrench. All because she confronted him about his extramarital affair in which he got his girlfriend pregnant.

He killed my aunt, went to work like nothing happened, and then came home and tried to pretend that he had just found her murdered.

And to this day, he's never shown remorse or accountability for what he's done. Which to me, says all it needs to say about his suitability for parole.

I cannot in my good conscious advocate for anything less than keeping his killer behind bars as long as possible. So on behalf of my family and myself, who have been carrying this trauma for more than three decades, and have to have this wound reopened every time he comes up for parole, please support me in keeping this murderer in prison.
