Juicy bars are clustered outside U.S. military bases, staffed exclusively by Filipino women. These women are brought into the country by promoters on entertainment visas, under the impression they will be working in clubs as singers--only to find out that their primary job is to flirt with and seduce their audience. Juicy girls are often punished with fines when they fail to meet quotas, which in turn compels them to make up the shortfall through prostitution. The military is not monitoring these clubs and their claim of zero tolerance is very simply partial tolerance. Juicy bars are degrading to women and an engraved invitation to prostitution and human trafficking which is both illegal and immoral. We demand that they be off-limits to service men and military contractors.
Why is this important?
I spent one-on-one time with the girls and had the horrible first-person experience of seeing what goes on in and out of the
establishments.
