We want better air quality in our neighborhood. Reduce street sweeping on our streets from 2 times each side of the street to 1 time each side of the street per week.
Why is this important?
Studies have shown that when people have to move their cars for street sweeping in the city, they are more likely to drive them. Currently, the streets in our neighborhood, represented by Community Board 9, have a 97% cleanliness rating for the past two years, but DOS still sweeps each side 2 times per week. Given poor air quality in the metropolitan region, it would be smarter for us to reduce this number to 1 time each side per week.
