I sign this petition as a legal resident of the state of California. I am asking my elected legislators to approve the deregulation of electricity following the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Final Rule #888 issued June 24, 1996. Monolopolized electricity has gone on long enough! We ask you to vote for a fair competitive environment which will provide efficient lower cost electricity to California consumers.
Why is this important?
Since 1998 deregulated electricity has become a productive market in the US offering savings to consumers in numerous states. Many states have now safely opened their markets. These states provide an effective and efficient model for California. In the 16 year since the federal order, California has allowed the process to stagnate which has forced its consumer to pay premium rates for electricity.
