Develop quarterly drug take-bag days for the proper disposal of pharmaceutical products
For some time people have disposed of pharmaceutical products by putting them down the drain. Unfortunately trace amounts of medications are being found in rivers and streams. One way the government can prevent improper medication disposal is by conducting drug take-back days. A drug take-back allows citizens to anonymously drop off unused medications for proper disposal by the government. Currently Virginia only has one drug take-back day per year. The rest of the time Virginia residents must find other means to dispose of medications. Virginians, and Virginia wildlife, would benefit from an increase in the number of drug take-back days throughout the year.
Why is this important?
As medical providers the proper disposal of medications is something we encounter on a day to day basis.
