DFEP scientist Connie Bersok

Florida is being stolen from its residents by polluting our waters, developing our wetlands, and draining our aquifer. The Fl Government calls it job creation and mitigation, but we all know the truth. Soon we will lose our tourist business and only then will Fl politicians care about the damage they have encouraged.
Florida's top state wetlands expert, Connie Bersok has been suspended after she refused to issue a permit on a controversial project that was offering dry land for wetland mitigation. Her boss Jeff Littlejohn was willing, and encouraged her to bend the rules to approve, letting Florida residents, and watershed pay the price. The application that led to Bersok's suspension came from the Highlands Ranch Mitigation Bank, which has repeatedly tussled with permitting officials, and unfortunately for Florida usually results in permitting officials getting fired. If Florida’s Government won't stand up for the environment we must.
I am very saddened by the loss of Connie Bersok at DEP. She was excellent in her job. The DEP and Florida residents were better off with her on their side. Whoever was involved in not backing her decision should be held accountable for Florida residents’ loss. They should be fired and Connie Bersok should be promoted for doing her job, her bosses’ job, and looking out the best of Florida residents.

Why is this important?
