Why is this important?
The U.S. Space Program has always been a source of national pride. If we can designate money toward presidential campaigns by checking a box on our income tax returns, then why can't we do the same for our space program? The success of the Mars Curiosity rover mission stands as one of the finest technical achievements ever attempted by man. We need not outsource our national greatness.
