Disability Income Protection for Florida's Workers
Most workers in Florida are not covered by disability insurance. Therefore, when they are unable to work due to illness or injury, most will not get paid. The State of California and perhaps others, have a system call State Disability Insurance. It is an entirely employee funded system where they contribute a small percentage of their gross income and if and when illness or injury occurs they receive a percentage of their regular weekly income while they are unable to work.
I think its time Florida has such a plan to protect the workers. This is zero cost to the employer and is entirely employee paid.
