Disabled parking at home!
Many disabled residents, especially those who rent or live in condo's are denied assigned parking at their residence. This is not about going shopping, or visiting others, it is about access to the places the disabled live.
Today many apartments and condos do not allow parking to be reseverd for a resident instead opting for installing a handicapped space available for anyone who is disabled. What needs to be done is to assign assigned parking for disabled residents and other handicapped parking for visitors.
The claim of those who control parking is that if they allow assigned parking for one they will have to allow it for all and this simply is not true. The fatcs point to laziness of those assigning spaces to recognize the importance of access for a disabled person to their place of residence.
Allowing the disabled assigned parking, near their residence, will not require all residents to have assigned parking. We ask that you sign this petition asking our lawmakers to enact legislation requiring those who control parking to make assigned parking near the residence of the disabled at their home a mandate. We desperately need congress and states to act on this by adding an important piece of legislation to the already existing laws covering the disabled.
