Recent reports of Chief Julius Hatfield instructing responders to refuse emergency service assistance to an African American family passing through Bullitt County when involved in a car accident, and then implying to a WDRB reporter that she could not speak English when questioned about the incident, shows that Chief Hatfield and his racist remarks are unfit for his role to protect and serve the community. Southeast Bullitt County Kentucky Fire Chief Julius Hatfield must be terminated and Bullitt County taxpayers will no longer support any public official that would use derogatory racial terms to discriminate against a family in need.
Why is this important?
Bullitt County, Kentucky is a small community still striving to grow past its negative and ugly history of discrimination, and public officers like Chief Julius Hatfield should go where they belong – in the past.
