Displaced worker tax
Republicans these days have become obsessed with the term “job creators”. They claim that handing money and power over to big wall street banks and the top earning %1 will stimulate job growth and thus the economy. But as we’ve seen in recent years, these measures actually have the opposite effect. Extra cash for corporations only equates to more cost saving measures such as the purchase of expensive equipment and systems that displace workers and yield no benefit to the economy or the greater community. Outsourcing is also a cost cutting measure that displaces American workers. To solve these issues I propose implementing a displaced worker tax that would tax corporations on every dollar made by the displacement of American workers so that it becomes too costly to outsource or otherwise displace American employees.
Why is this important?
