DISTRICTS FAILURE FOR STUDENT AND TEACHER PROTECTION
The school district is terminating 75.5 teacher positions, and overall 100+ jobs. Eisenhower High School is losing 22 teachers/staff (in total) all together. The YSD is claiming that they're losing too much money in comparison to the student enrollment rate. Their main argument is the district being in debt.
We're protesting that firing all these teachers and YSD staff is not the answer or the reason. It's because of the poor choices our board has made to spend/budget the districts money.
Paraeducators, academic specialists, counselors, and English Development teachers will have the greatest reductions. Other layoffs include 10 assistant principals, one interpreter, two child care coordinators, five health assistants and multiple migrant student advocates.
Our mission statements:
We would like to strive to support teachers and staff at the YSD. We also would like to bring awareness to the irresponsibility of the YSD board and superintendent.

Why is this important?
The Yakima School District board’s choices are unfair to both teachers/staff and student education!
