Do Not Rename North River High School to honor the family of former slave-owner, Crawford Parrish
Stop the renaming process that proposes to rename our local North River High School to Parrish High School in honor of the family of former slave-owner, Crawford Parrish, who owned 32 slaves in 1860.
Why is this important?
The idea of renaming a school to honor the family name of a former slave-owner is abhorrent. https://www.bradenton.com/news/local/education/article217083660.html I am a resident of Manatee County, Florida and shall not have tax dollars supporting such a racist proposition.
