Asheville city council recently approved a hotels offer to buy up the property across from the basilica. They did this even after the basilica offered a much larger sum (reported to be 300,000 dollars more than the hotel offer). This move makes no sense. Asheville already has two hotels currently being constructed and most of our current hotels stay empty for the better part of the year! Help me raise up an outcry to stop commercializing Asheville, don't let my mountain town lose its charm.
